we hear you re. 3.0. more details here: http://forums.getdropbox.com/topic.php?id=12998...
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2009/09/ad-da...
2.x = 26%
3.0 = 51%
3.1 = 23%
I wait for this app long time and now I can't use it. Sad.
My apologies for the inconvenience, but when it comes to data loss, we always have to aim for the safest option.
Example Code: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1364056/SaveVideoAtP...
I can't afford to get my iPhone locked to carrier when I travel all the time and am constantly changing SIM cards.
Dropbox is one of the best services I've come across in a LONG time. I actually pay for the 50GB plan and am constantly raving about it to friends and co-workers. Keep up the good work guys!
sorry, dropbox, I love your tools, but this is horrible, requiring me to go to a broken OS so I can use software.
How about just a splash warning screen on first launch for those of us with 3.0/3.0.1 ? With a very specific limitation like that, I'd gladly "roll the dice".
this is so disappointing.
I have a free account (2G) and was ready to subscribe for 50GB but now...I will not.
Sorry guys great tool you have out there but you are losing customers on your limitation.
be locked to a provider. I bought the phone and I would like to be able to
use it with any provider I wish.
Don't support the locked phone hegemony by giving them money - buy unlocked.
Pretty please take that video upload code out and recompile for us 3.0 people! As someone else stated, we make up 50% of your iPhone using customer base right now.
I understand the reasoning, but why not have it run on all devices 3.0 and over, and just disable the video upload feature if the user doesn't have 3.1?
After all, video doesn't even concern the huge amount of 3G (or original iPhone) owners out there anyway.
i really hope you will release an updated version of the dropbox app that runs on 3.0.1 and ignores the video upload problem on 2G and 3G phones.
I'm a paying Dropbox customer and, please, release a 3.0 version....
PLEASE
Anyway, I'm sure the app is great. Congrats.
like others have stated, why the 3.1 requirement?
Android app next?
Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you.
TO THE WHINY 3.0.1 folks: I upgraded my phone to 3.1 ages ago, and I've not had any issues with battery life, even with aggressive daily use of the phone. Rather than whining about Dropbox using the latest and greatest, get with the program and update your darn phones.
you may have upgraded your phone to 3.1 ages ago, but there are many, MANY of us who cannot or will not upgrade to 3.1.
Don't call us whiny when we make up over 50% of the iphone user base.
Stop crying about the rules of using the Dropbox Application. If you doesn't meet the requirements: Upgrade. If you won't: Don't use the app.
Easy, huh?
I'm so glad you can use iphone os 3.1. I'm not complaining about missing functions, or about the first two months of OS 3.1.
It is easy. I won't be installing dropbox until they make a 3.x-compatible version.
3.0.1 support plz THX
Down with this sort of thing.
I will re-name my son Dropbox once it installs on 3.x.
Keep up the good work.
I wish the comments were more positive... Maybe if there'd been warning about the OS 3.1 restriction people wouldn't be so up in arms...
I'm an avid Dropbox user--many times a day you folks backup and track changes to my novel-in-progress.
So forgive me if I can't wrap my head around what the official iPhone app does that setting up a Dropbox bookmark on an iPhone launch page--particularly one pointing to the iPhone-optmized version of the Dropbox site. In terms of show changes to Dropbox files, the bookmark seems to be *more* powerful. This isn't a rhetorical question-- what app advantage am I missing?
Really been waiting to start pay for the service but I'm loosing my patience as others are I can imagine.
Since I don't even have a phone, just a lowly iPod touch, having a 3.1 requirement because of a feature I don't even have is doubly frustrating.
I did notice one bug, when I open an mp3 in my dropbox in portrait mode it makes the display landscape but in portrait so the sides end up being chopped off. It might just be some configuration issue of mine though.
edit: it only does this when the device is flat on it's back on a table.
Please.
BIG THUMBS UP FROM ME
Very frustrating...
Android
Android
Android!
This is a great app for a great service, thanks.
So nice to have the extra security of having all my dropbox goodness with me at all times. Ahhhhh
PS - 3.1 is kicking ass on my old 4 gig first gen. No probs at all...
update posted here: http://forums.getdropbox.com/topic.php?id=12998...
huge small feature request !! - I cannot sort my files based on modified date - that's how I find the files I'm working on, so when I cannot search on dates the fiels almost doesn't exist.....:-(
a) android? (yes... one more)
b) when are we finally able to select which folders we want to have syncronised or not? I have a work and a personal computer and don't want to find all my private stuff on my work computer... I know many asked it...
Cool though. Really cool!
-.-
